President's Thought: Encourage your membership to find ways to become involved in school activities. Parental Involvement doesn't always have to occur during the school day. Working parents who wish to be involved but are constrained by their work schedules can find other ways to help. Evening and weekend campus beautification projects, folding PTA newsletters at home, providing old magazines to be cut up for art projects are all ways for working parents to become involved. Encourage fathers to stop by on their lunch hour and read a short story for Heart to Heart Read to Me week. Be creative with your parental involvement projects in order for everyone to feel they have an opportunity to participate in PTA.
Safety Second: This Edition's Safety Second is brought to you by the TN PTA publication The Bulletin. Please click here to read about Alcohol Safety
Public Relations Ideas: Remember to support Community Businesses and Organizations that support PTA. When you shop at a PTA Partner Business, seek out the manager and express your appreciation for the things that his business does for PTA. Thank Community Organization members for contributing to scholarships. Knowing that they are appreciated, strengthens partnerships between the community and our organization.
