President's ThoughtWelcome to a new school year! The JCCPTA hopes to act as a resource to guide and assist each local unit throughout the year. Our Monthly President's Luncheon and Meeting provide opportunities to meet and share ideas between Council Members, Local Unit Presidents and School Board Representatives. Fall Training will be offered by our Council Board at our August 12, 2008 Meeting.

Safety Second: With the new school year, we reccommend that you encourage your students and their families to update, discuss and practice a Family Emergency Drill. Prepare an emergency kit with easily prepared food, manual can opener, water, battery powered radio with fresh batteries, a first aid kit and any medications they may require. Specify a place for the entire family to meet outside in case of a house fire. For additional ideas, click here.

Public Relations Ideas: Sponsor a "Meet and Greet" for your students and their families. Invite local school board members, PTA Council members and teachers. Encourage attendees to get to know what opportunities are available to support your school through both PTA and Community Involvement.
